Maple Blondies
½ cup real maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon maple extract or Mapleine
2 eggs
2 cups flour
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together melted butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Add extracts and eggs. Mix well. Add dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Stir in nuts.
Pour into a 9x13 or 10-inch square baking pan which has been lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 22 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick in center comes out clean.
While still warm, spread with Maple Glaze and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
Allow glaze to set then cut blondies into bars and serve.
Maple Glaze
¼ cup butter
½ cup real maple syrup
¼ cup brown sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon maple extract or Mapleine
½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Add butter, maple syrup, and brown sugar to a saucepan and cook over low heat. Bring to a boil and cook for about 2 minutes. Stir in extracts. Add powdered sugar and whisk vigorously, ensuring there are no lumps.
